Musée de l'Orangerie

This museum is located right next to Place de la Concorde, and it is here that Monet's famous water lily paintings are displayed.  The main floor consists of two large oval-shaped rooms filled with large water lily paintings, and in the basement there are works by many other impressionist and post-impressionist artists.  The site, which used to be an "Orangerie", or a greenhouse for keeping orange trees warm during the winter, was chosen personally by Monet for the display of his paintings.
