Aux Lyonnais

A foie gras appetizer:

foie gras

This evening, we had a delicious dinner at the restaurant Aux Lyonnais, which served cuisine from the French region of Lyon. We were joined by two very gracious friends of the MIT French Department, as well as our guide Sophie and her husband Grégoire – a fellow scientist!  All of the dishes were quite hearty, which made the meal an excellent end to a long winter day.  Most of us took advantage of the regional cuisine to expand our knowledge of French gastronomie. Foie gras, truffles, rabbit, and quenelles aux écrevisses all graced our table. I must admit, though, that my favorite part of the meal was the dessert. It was a combination of two Lyonnais specialties – the île flottante and a tarte lyonnaise.  Perhaps we could organize a JSF Round 2: Lyon…
