Would you like to spend two weeks in Paris during IAP?

MIT’s Global Studies and Languages invites undergraduates to apply for the January Scholars in France program. Eight students will be selected to experience two weeks of tutored immersion in the cultural life of Paris.

Airfare, lodging, guided tours, and field trips costs are covered by MIT.

Applications are open to MIT undergraduates. Preference will be given to those with a demonstrated commitment to French Studies at MIT, French minors, and French concentrators. January Scholars is not an IAP subject, and there’s no credit or grade awarded.

MIT French professor Bruno Perreau and Paris-based tour guides will lead your exploration of major landmarks (like the Louvre), and explore the unique relation Parisians have to the streets of their city

• Explore sites of the 1870 and 1968 revolutions
• Discover traces left by recent social movements, like Nuit Debout
• Explore the politics of the street: traffic management, environmental issues, new urban projects such as Les Halles and Le Grand Paris
• Delve into Parisian cultural life off and on the streets: music, exhibitions, theater plays, opera, and spectacular food!
