A discotheque at night:

Walk around le sixième at night, and you’ll find plenty of people enjoying la soirée.  Some areas of the neighborhood have lots of student-oriented bars and clubs, whereas other streets – like rue Mouffetard – have become more touristy.

Melissa and I explored the area closer to the Seine one evening, and managed to sample both a discotheque and a more low-key bar called La Rhumerie, which had quite an exotic drink list. Our biggest lesson of the night, though, is that standing on a street corner after dinner time staring at a map is the biggest tourist flag you can wave. Plenty of friendly men tried to help us out that night, despite our efforts to be discreet with our plan of Paris.

A store on Mouffetard:

On our second-to-last night, we ventured deeper into the quartier to rue Mouffetard.  Melissa found the name a little hard to take seriously, but it was actually a really fun place to spend an evening. The long, narrow street is filled with bars and restaurants, and we saw a lot more Anglophones walking around than usual. After eating a delicious dinner at a neighborhood restaurant, we walked through the crowded street, checking out some of the soirées as we went along.
